Bio of company and Artists
Child Music Online is a division of
Verdict Entertainment, www.verdictentertainment.com. Verdict is a music
production company and Independent Record Label in New York established
in
1995 by music veteran, Rod Clemmons. He and his wife, recording artist,
Leslie
Clemmons, www.leslieclemmonsmusic.com, now run the company together.
Child Music Online had its beginnings when
Rod took on a project to produce a children’s album for a friend. While
doing
research for the children’s album, it was very hard for Rod & Leslie
to find
music that they as professionals enjoyed, even though they found a lot
of it
online! They loved their friend Dwayne’s songs and started thinking
about what
they would like to have their own child listen to when they receive such
a
blessing. And such was the beginning of Child Music Online! Rod &
Leslie are
so excited about it that they are currently working on 5 new projects
that
will be available for Child Music Online in 2005 & 2006. You can
learn more
about Rod & Leslie’s music training on their websites listed above.
Each CD we
offer you will be accompanied by each artists’ educational and
performance
background so you can be confident that your child will benefit from the
music
they listen to on our site. As we add Albums to our repertoire, we look
forward to growing this division of Verdict Entertainment along with the
next
generation of music lovers, your children! Also you can shop for kids dvds here.

‘Hangin’ Out with My Baby’
Origins
When our son, Asher, was born I was
working for NYC’s Administration For Children’s Services as a foster
care
caseworker and part-time actor. After reading about the Family Leave Act
my
wife, Lee, and I agreed that we would share daycare responsibilities for
our
son. She took the first nine months, I took the next nine months. When
it was
my turn I, arrogantly, thought I would be able to ‘tame the beast’ known
as
housework and child care. Did I? Well, at the end of my first day when
Lee
came home from work the apartment was a disaster area, and there was no
dinner
prepared. I gave her the baby and exhausted I crawled into bed. Who
knew!?!
Over the next few months I got
myself on a
schedule, and inadvertently started singing songs to help get myself
through
the day. The first song was ‘Diaper Change’, which helped me survive the
drama
trauma of changing numerous stinky diapers. ‘Time To get Dressed’ helped
me to
be patient while trying to get a squirming body into unwanted clothes.
‘Parts
of the Body’ was part of our play/exercise time. ‘Sleepy Time’ was a way
to
get my cranky child to take a nap, so I could get some rest. As Asher
and I
developed our daily routine, I composed more songs. For a long time I
didn’t
share these songs with anyone because they were a part our growth as
father
and son, our special bond. One day my wife overheard me singing ‘Diaper
Change’ and chimed in. Soon she started singing it when she changed
diapers.
She encouraged me to write the lyrics and melodies down. Which I did.
(We
husbands should always listen to our wives suggestions!)
One Sunday we were in church, taking
care
of the infants and toddlers when Lee started singing Diaper Change. Over
the
course of a month or so other people started singing it when it was time
to
change diapers. People started asking for copies of the words/music,
which led
to the idea of making a CD of all the songs. I was excited about the
idea, but
very hesitant. After lots of encouragement and offers to buy a
non-existent
CD, I figured- why not!! I hope ‘Hangin’ Out With My Baby’ will help you
develop a special bond with your child the way it did for me, and be
your
musical way to get through the day. Enjoy! ~Dwayne Arvinger

NOW I LAY ME DOWN TO SLEEP - Eric & Susan
Davis
Eric and Susan Davis
have been performing as a violin and guitar duo for the past nine years,
and have performed numerous recitals and events ranging from classical
to jazz, as well as on board the Queen Elizabeth II.
Eric was awarded the first Masters Degree in guitar from the Juilliard
School and has performed both as recitalist and as soloist with
orchestra in Europe, South America, as well as throughout the United
States. He is comfortable in virtually every style of guitar, and
remains an active performer and session musician in the New York area.
Susan attended Indiana University as well as the Mannes College of Music
in New York City. She is equally at home as a violinist and vocalist
having played and sung in both classical and jazz idioms.
Both Eric and Susan are music educators on Long Island, New York and are
strong advocates for strengthening music programs in our schools. In
their own words, this project came about "because of the need for an
album of authentic classical lullabys that is both soothing for children
yet enjoyable listening for parents and adults." This recording
contains pieces by Brahms, Tchaikovsky, Schumann, de Falla, and many
more.
Arby
DeCamp

Arby DeCamp
I have been a full time musician for over 30
years, performing as a guitarist with many legends of the music business
including Marvin Gaye, Quincy Jones, Mel Torme, Henry Mancini, and
Perry Como. Over the years, I have also released 16 intrumental jazz
guitar CD's, many of which have made the national jazz charts.
Until recently, I never once considered singing, just thinking of myself
as an instrumentalist; however, because I have been making my living
more and more as a composer in recent years, I became interested in
children's music as a possible market for some of my compositions. I
wrote a few lullabyes with lyrics; my plan was to put together a demo to
send to established children's performers and try to get them to record
those tunes. Initially, I wanted to get a studio singer to record my
demo, but I ended up singing the songs myself, because I really had a
very distinct vision of how the songs should be sung. When my wife
heard the tape, she urged me to record the songs myself. I wrote more
songs, and before I knew it I had enough for an album. By that point, I
realized I had become emotionally attached to the songs; I didn't want
to give them away to another vocalist. That is how "Sleep By Numbers"
was born.
Since this children's lullaby vocal performance was such a drastic
departure from the jazz instrumentalist I had been, I decided to use a
pseudonym. I chose Arby DeCamp because it is a variation of my
grandfather's name; my grandfather was my childhood hero, and this CD is
meant as a tribute to him.
